Las Pracas of the artist Paula Saneaux

Santo Domingo. - The artist Paula Saneaux shows the paintings of the series “Las Pracas” where she presents the female attributes and lives of different women with very defined brush strokes.

The exhibition of the Altos de Chavon School of Design graduate is open to the public at the Fundación Global on Capitán Eugenio de Marchena Street, number 26, La Esperilla, from July 14th to August 14th.

Sixteen paintings and a life size sculpture made of plaster are the artworks that form the series Las Pracas. The paintings were made in acrylic and oil on canvas and on medium formats.

Paula Saneaux said that she used a realistic technique so the message goes to the viewer in a more direct way.

Also, she said that the name of Las Pracas is inspired by three characters of roman mythology: they begin, sew and cut the life of people.

“All those women are the result of those characters, because they sew their own destiny and have decided to hold something detrimental to themselves when it’s up to them to stop it”.

In her judgement, this represents the suffering women have in their youth when “they think in an exaggerated way, but what we have to do is simply stop “doing it” or find a solution”.
