As in Christina's World

2009- Present

"'As in Christina’s World' is about life’s frailty compared to the preparation of a circus show. This series is also inspired by Andrew Wyeth’s “Christina’s World” where his disabled subject proudly refuses to use a wheelchair and is therefore obliged to drag herself across her home however she can. This rings true to me personally not only because it reminds me of the paramount process my mother Christina had to endure after suddenly falling ill, but as well as the unexpected loss of people, and my own illness. I analyzed life’s frailty from that ashen perspective and likened the human experience to the preparation of a circus, where much detail, planning, makeup, rehearsals, and wardrobe are deployed for a show which in the end, finalizes in an instant."
