Bio
Paula Saneaux is a visual artist who explores topics related to the fragility of life, human behavior, mental health, and social influences. She uses symbols to construct narratives containing multiple meanings.
Her paintings have been exhibited in venues throughout the United States, and in her native Dominican Republic. Among these venues are the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Maryland, the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art in Wisconsin, the Dominican Museum of Modern Art, and more. Her artwork is held in several public and private collections, including those of important institutions in the Dominican Republic, such as the Central Bank and the Cándido Bidó Museum. Her private collections are held in Brussels, Miami, New York, Rome, Santo Domingo, Washington D.C., and other cities around the world.
In recognition of excellence, Saneaux has received numerous awards, including the Maryland State Arts Council Independent Artists Regional Award, and a Rauschenberg Foundation grant, among others. In January 2016, she was granted the American Green Card for "Artists of Extraordinary Ability," which is given to a small percentage of people who excel in science, the arts, education, business, or sports.
She is currently a candidate for an MFA in Studio Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). She holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York, and an AA in Fine Arts and Illustration from Altos de Chavon School of Design in the Dominican Republic.
